24	[From Plumas Co. News On-line 1/26/2005]: Peter Edward Christensen, born Jan. 1, 1938, in Pomeroy, Wash., died at age 66, Dec. 21, 2004, in Sacramento. He is survived by daughters, Connie Christensen and Penny Christensen, both of Sacramento and formerly of Colusa Co.; brothers, Eric Ray of Seattle, Wash.; David of Boundbrook, N.J.; and Patrick of Pullman, Wash.; his sister, Karen Rice of Colusa; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Bert Young and Alta May Christensen. He had longtime service as business director for the Colusa Co. School District in California, retiring to live in Portola, Plumas Co., and teach elementary school in the Reno, Nev. area, where he was recently recognized as Teacher of the Year by the Washoe Co. School District. He was also a former resident of Bainbridge Island, Wash.; San Jose; Sacramento; Colusa; Stockton; and Reno, Nev. Pete loved the Sierra Valley area and enjoyed leisurely drives through the beautiful countryside, spotting obscure wildlife, fishing some of the local lakes, enjoying breakfast at the bakery in Blairsden or watching the annual July Fourth fireworks at the millpond in Graeagle. He delivered the Reno Gazette to area residents and discovered many charming neighborhoods tucked away from the main roads. Pete appreciated the rural qualities of the area, especially the friendly neighbors and slow paced lifestyle. His daughters will miss Pete's regular phone calls describing in detail something special he had seen or discovered in the Sierra Valley area. Future memorial services and interment will be in Pomeroy, Garfield Co., Wash., his birthplace and where his ancestors were a pioneering blacksmith family. The family suggests donations may be sent to the UCD Heart Research Fund, 2315 Stockton Blvd., Sacramento, California 95817 in memory of Peter Christensen.	Peter Edward (Young) Christensen
